Foster City, Calif.-headquartered SolarCity has released the SolarGuard, a new technology that monitors and reports data on solar system performance.
According to the company, SolarGuard collects, monitors and displays performance data from solar systems – such as production levels and local weather – and transmits that information to the company's servers every 15 minutes via the Internet. In addition, the SolarGuard Web portal allows customers a way to view their investments, including carbon dioxide emissions that are prevented.
‘The data we create with SolarGuard will enable us to protect the investments of our existing customers while pushing the industry to continually higher levels of reliability and accountability,’ says Ben Tarbell, SolarCity's director of products.
