SolarWorld Offering Solar Finance Program Featuring U.S.-Made Modules

SolarWorld has launched the SolarWorld Freedom Plan, which the company claims is the industry's first financing program dedicated exclusively to U.S.-made solar products. The offering is a lease program that guarantees the usage of U.S.-manufactured modules in every installation.

‘The majority of leased solar systems installed in the U.S. last year relied on imported panels from China,’ says Rusty Pittman, director of marketing for SolarWorld Americas.

SolarWorld cites a recent survey from Harris Interactive and the Made in the USA Foundation that showed 75% of U.S. consumers said they would pay more for U.S.-made products of the same or better quality than imported goods.

The Freedom Plan offers zero-down, low-down and prepaid options. It is offered in conjunction with SolarWorld's complete solar systems, which include photovoltaic equipment, installation, monitoring services, system insurance and maintenance for up to 20 years. The program is currently available in California and is expected to be rolled out to Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York in the coming months.
