Solectria Releases New Disconnecting String Combiners

PV inverter manufacturer Solectria Renewables LLC has introduced its new Disconnecting String Combiners (DISCOMs), which are designed to allow installers, maintenance crews and first responders to turn off power near the DC source, thus enhancing PV system safety.

The disconnecting string combiners are compliant with UL 1741 and CSA C22.2#107.1, and help installers meet the latest National Electric Safety Code (2011 NEC) requirements for de-energizing DC output circuits, Solectria says.

Each of the DISCOMs (DISCOM 3R and DISCOM 4) has a UL98B load-break rated switch at the core of the combiner that is capable of safely shutting down the DC homerun circuits, even at full power, the company adds. The Disconnecting String Combiners are available with four to 30 input circuits and in NEMA 3R, 4 and 4X enclosures.
