SolFocus and solar investor Sistema Solare have announced the completion of a 1.25 MW solar project in Italy.
The concentrating photovoltaic (CPV) project spans two sites in central Italy – one in Aveani and the other in Savini. The CPV installations were developed and designed by Ren It and were built by engineering, procurement and construction company DELTA.
The SolFocus CPV technology deployed at the site utilizes a system of patented reflective optics to concentrate sunlight 650 times onto small, highly efficient solar cells, SolFocus explains. The SolFocus SF-1100S systems feature dual-axis tracking for consistent energy delivery throughout the day and ensure there is no permanent shadowing or wildlife corridor disruption, according to the company.
