Victor Valley College and SolFocus plan to install a 1 MW facility of high concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) systems for the college, located in Victorville, Calif. The Victor Valley College solar micro-generating facility is expected to produce roughly 30% of the college's electricity demand.
Construction on the six-acre plant is currently under way on the college's main campus. The project consists of 122 8.4 kW arrays.
Funding for the project was provided in part by a capital construction bond, Measure JJ, approved by voters in November 2008, along with other capital funds. The college will also receive approximately $4 million, paid over five years, through performance-based incentives as part of the California Solar Initiative program.
