California-based Sollega has introduced a lightweight ballasted hybrid roof-mount system using Ultramid plastic material from BASF.
Sollega says the The FastRack510 (FR510) weighs 4.5 pounds and is engineered for extreme rooftop conditions. The system features a one-piece, stackable design that enables 500 kW of racking materials to fit in a standard 40-foot shipping container. The company says the FR510 arrives at the project site fully assembled and accommodates any type of module at five- and 10-degree tilt angles.
BASF says its Ultramid material is composed of glass-reinforced nylon with a UV inhibitor and has been used for over 40 years in demanding applications – such as automobile components – exposed to rain, chemicals, sunlight and vibrations.
