SoloPower, a San Jose, Calif.-based manufacturer of flexible thin film solar cells and modules, says its latest product has achieved an aperture-area efficiency of 13.4% – a record for flexible copper indium gallium (di)selenide (CIGS)-based modules.

The measurements were made by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

‘Importantly, the cells were made in SoloPower's San Jose manufacturing facility, so we know we have the systems in place to deliver high-efficiency, lightweight, flexible modules to our customers around the globe,’ notes SoloPower CEO Tim Harris.
