SPI Lasers Appoints Two At U.S. Facility

SPI Lasers, a U.K.-based designer and manufacturer of fiber lasers, has appointed two laser industry experts for its Santa Clara, Calif., facility. Mark Brodsky has been named applications lab manager, and Kevin Ham has been named senior laser applications engineer. The company plans to expand its Santa Clara applications lab.

Brodsky previously worked as owner and founder of LMco Laser Marks Co., and founder and president of Mr. Laser Inc. He has also served in positions within Advanced Micro Devices, Zilog Semiconductor and National Semiconductor Corp. He has a host of technical publications and owns several patents.

Ham has over 25 years of experience with lasers in manufacturing applications and engineering, most recently from the medical sector.

SPI notes that in conjunction with these appointments, the company has also developed its global applications presence by reinforcing its position with a new applications lab in the U.K. and forging close ties with a number of leading application research centers around the globe.
