SRS Energy, a developer of sustainable solar roofing products, has been award $2,805,000 in grant and loan money from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to support the production of its Sole Power Tile system, which is designed to integrate with curved clay tile roofs.

‘These funds will enable SRS Energy to expand its business by opening a manufacturing plant that will put Pennsylvanians to work producing the Sole Power Tile,’ says Marty Low, CEO of SRS Energy.

On June 30, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development awarded SRS Energy a Machinery and Equipment Loan Fund loan for $2,375,000 to support the purchase of equipment for a manufacturing plant. On July 14, the Commonwealth Financing Authority approved a $430,000 grant, also to be used for purchasing manufacturing equipment.

The plant's first line is scheduled to be fully operational by the second quarter of 2010 and will employ 30 to 40 people, with additional lines to open at later dates, SRS Energy says.
