SunEdison LLC has purchased a 356.7-acre site in North Carolina and initiated construction on a planned 18 MW solar photovoltaic facility.
The Winston-Salem Journal reports that the company selected a site at Golden Crescent Farms, located off New Jersey Church Rd. in Linwood, after considering two other sites. Plant construction is expected to create 80 construction jobs.
Duke Energy has signed a contract to purchase the plant's output for 20 years.
