SunEdison and groSolar recently activated a 1.1 MW solar power system at the Vacaville, Calif., headquarters of Mariani Packing Co. Under a long-term solar power services agreement, SunEdison will maintain the system and sell the electricity produced by it to Mariani at costs less than retail rates for traditional energy sources.
Located on seven acres and comprising more than 5,800 photovoltaic panels from Evergreen Solar, the system will produce 1.9 million kWh of electricity per year. MP2 Capital assisted in creating and developing the project, which also features sun-tracking systems from Thompson Technology Industries and inverters from SMA.
