Suniva Inc., a Georgia-based manufacturer of high-efficiency silicon solar cells, has hired Dr. Stephen Shea as its vice president of manufacturing. He has spent over 30 years in photovoltaics working on device design, manufacturing process development, technology transfer and engineering management.
After completing his Ph.D. on aspects of carrier transport in thin film solar cells, Shea continued his research at the University of Delaware's Institute of Energy Conversion, working with a wide range of emerging thin film materials and devices. He joined Solarex in 1983 and spent more than 20 years with the company (which merged with BP Solar in 1999). Since 2004, Shea has worked primarily as a consultant to the PV industry.
