Sunovia Energy Technologies Inc. and its partner, EPIR Technologies Inc., plan to expand their research and development and pilot production facilities in Bolingbrook, Ill.

According to the companies, this expansion will allow them to begin optimization of their cadmium telluride on silicon (CdTe/Si) concentrated photovoltaic devices. Once the product is optimized, pilot-scale production will commence at the same facility.
The partners have also expanded their materials synthesis and device fabrication facility to 26,000 square feet, including 4,000 square feet of clean-room laboratory space. The expanded facility also houses R&D and engineering staff, which has doubled over the past year.
