Residential solar company Sunrun says it will expand to New York's Long Island region. The announcement follows a decision from Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) to open its doors to third-party solar by allowing customers to use LIPA incentives to install PV using third-party deals.
Under its third-party arranagement, Sunrun owns the solar array and works with local partners to install it on a customer's roof. Homeowners pay for the power, and Sunrun monitors and maintains the system.
‘LIPA's decision supports consumer choice, makes solar more attainable for families of all incomes and demonstrates a strong commitment to job creation,’ says Lynn Jurich, co-CEO of SunRun.
