Suntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd. is now offering a 300 W Ve-Series solar module for commercial- and utility-scale solar projects in North America and South America.
‘This new 300 W module is what our customers have been asking for. The improved design will lower balance-of-system costs and generate a better levelized cost of electricity,’ says John Lefebvre, president of Suntech America.
The 72-cell multicrystalline module has a conversion efficiency of 15.5% and 1,000 V operational certification from Underwriters Laboratories, Suntech says. The module also features an improved frame design, whereby the thickness has been reduced from 50 mm to 40 mm, yielding a 2.6 lb. decrease in total module weight. Additionally, the panels are certified to withstand extreme wind (3,800 Pascal) and snow (5,400 Pascal) loads.
Suntech notes that the new 300 W product, which is available now, is not subject to U.S. import tariffs imposed on solar cells produced in China.
