Suntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd. says it is now offering solar panels that satisfy local-content requirements for solar projects in Ontario.
Using 100% Ontario-refined silicon from Calisolar Inc., Suntech's qualifying 225 W and 275 W modules are designed to enable local partners to receive approval under Ontario's feed-in-tariff (FIT) and microFIT programs.
Since Jan. 1, the microFIT and FIT programs have required solar projects to utilize 60% domestic content. Suntech's panels contribute 10% and 11% compliance to the programs, respectively.
