Super-Sod Brings Second Georgia Solar Farm Online To Power The Grid

0

Super-Sod, a turf and horticulture company, brought a second solar farm online earlier this month in partnership with Georgia Power and Hannah Solar. The photovoltaic cells span five acres of their sod farm in Marshallville, Ga.

This new solar farm produces 1 MW of electricity per year. According to the Solar Energy Industry Association's calculations, 1 MW is enough to power 92 homes in Georgia.

Super-Sod's first solar farm went online in 2013 in Lakeland, Ga. The company partnered with Invenergy LLC for this 10-acre solar farm, which produces 2 MW per year.

All of the solar energy obtained at the turf company's solar farm goes directly into the grid.
