Teanaway Solar Reserve LLC has submitted its permit application to Kittitas County to locate a 75 MW solar project on privately owned timberland near Cle Elum, Wash.
The application includes hundreds of pages necessary for county land use and environmental review. Comprehensive environmental studies suggest the site is ideal for a solar project, Teanaway Solar Reserve says. The project generates positive benefits for the climate and has no water requirements, with little impact to wildlife and wetlands.
Project leaders also released preliminary results from an economic study indicating the project will create up to 225 family-wage jobs every year during a three-year construction period and at least 35 jobs on a permanent basis. The overall private investment is expected to exceed a price tag of $300 million.
