TeraSol GK has obtained facility approval from Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry for a 475 MW photovoltaic power plant.

The solar installation will be built on the island of Ukushima, Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture. The electricity produced from several sites will be fed into an internal grid network and delivered to Kyushu Electric Power via a high-voltage direct current submarine cable.

TeraSol expects the project to be connected to the grid in 2015 or 2016. It is currently being developed by Germany-based Photovolt and local partners.
