The Texas Senate has approved S.B.541, which would required an additional 1,500 MW of renewable energy (from solar, geothermal and biomass) in the state by 2020. The bill was introduced by State Sen. Kirk Watson, D-Austin.
‘Texas has the sun, the wind, the people and the demand,’ said Watson. ‘This is where [the renewable energy industry] wants to be if there is a long-term commitment.’
