The Solar Energy Consortium (TSEC) in New York's Hudson Valley has secured approximately $1.5 million in federal funding, according to Rep. Maurice Hinchey, D, N.Y. The funding, which President Bush is expected to sign into law, will be used to bring a new manufacturing partner to the region.
The funding provision was incorporated into the Omnibus Appropriations Bill for Fiscal Year 2008, which passed in both the House and Senate this week. Hinchey sits on the House Appropriations Committee.
The federal funds are the latest monetary infusion into the nonprofit TSEC. Earlier this fall, Empire State Development approved a $1.5 million grant, and the Ulster County legislature approved $200,000 for TSEC.
