Transform Solar, a manufacturer of silver solar cells, plans to establish manufacturing bases in Boise and Nampa, Idaho. Transform Solar was formed in February by Boise-based Micron Technology Inc. and Origin Energy of Australia.
The Idaho Statesman reports that the company plans to manufacture the silver solar cells at a plant in Boise where Micron previously made semiconductors. The cells will then be assembled into modules at the former Spec Tek plant owned by Micron in Nampa.
The cells are expected to be available starting next year.
