Trina Solar Ltd., an integrated manufacturer of solar photovoltaic products, says it has obtained approval from the Gansu Provincial Development and Reform Commission to develop a 50 MW grid-connected solar power plant project in Wuwei, Gansu, China.
The project is expected to support economic stimulus in a region challenged by semi-desert conditions. According to Trina, the Wuwei municipality is well suited for solar energy production due to favorable irradiance and the ability to sell off electricity to other regions in addition to supplying local needs.
The company has not yet provided details on a timeline for building the project.
