Turlock Irrigation District (TID), a Turlock, Calif.-based water and electricity provider, has issued a request for proposals (RFP) to increase the portion of its electric energy requirements from facilities that qualify as eligible renewable energy resources according to both California law and TID's policies.
This RFP reflects its objective to obtain environmentally safe and reliable electric energy supplies for its customers at the lowest possible cost, the company says. TID is looking for facilities that currently have rights in, own or are proposing to develop an eligible renewable energy resource, or own renewable energy credit rights. The irrigation district adds that it will give preference to projects that will be commercially available earlier in the acquisition period.
Eligible renewable energy resources include biomass, geothermal, hydroelectric, solar photovoltaic and solar thermal, among others.
