Ultrasonic Systems Releases Spray System For CdTe Solar Modules

0

Ultrasonic Systems Inc. (USI), a manufacturer of ultrasonic spray-coating equipment, has debuted its PV-480 system for cadmium telluride (CdTe) PV module coating applications.

The PV-480 uses USI's proprietary nozzle-less ultrasonic spray-head technology for thinner, more uniform coating deposition than is possible with conventional spray technologies, the company says. Designed for high-volume, in-line manufacturing, the PV-480 can process glass plates up to 48 inches wide at speeds of up to six feet per minute.

The PV-480 delivers liquid coating with transfer efficiencies in excess of 90%, utilizing a traversing Ultra-Spray blade head. This versatile system is ideal for the application of cadmium chloride solution and anti-reflective coatings, as well as other low-viscosity liquids, according to USI. The system can be operated in-line or as a stand-alone process, and is controlled via a touch-screen user interface.
