Dalton, Ga.-based US Floors Inc., a sustainable flooring manufacturer, says it has completed the installation of the first phase of what is likely to be the largest privately owned solar power generation system in the state.
The system is mounted on the rooftop of the company's new plant in Dalton, which began production of flooring products in late 2008. The rooftop array currently consists of 180 PV solar panels. The completed system is rated at 31.5 kW. When the next two phases are installed, the total output of the system will exceed 94 kW, powering a significant portion of the building's electrical requirements.
US Floors' system was designed by Alpharetta, Ga.-based United Renewable Energy LLC.
