United Solar, manufacturer of UNI-SOLAR thin-film solar cells and modules, says it has opened a new manufacturing facility in Taranto, Italy. The factory combines the production of UNI-SOLAR PV laminates with metal products from Marcegaglia to produce PV-integrated insulated metal roofing panels.
Marcegaglia's laminates are produced in 10 different product sizes and vary from 1.3 meters to 9 meters in length, with rated power outputs up to 242 W per panel, according to the companies. Marcegaglia has begun the sale and installation of the insulated roofing panels including these laminates.
The Marcegaglia building-integrated PV product complies with the requirements of Integrated Photovoltaic Systems with Innovative Characteristics and is IEC/CEI certified, the companies add. The Taranto plant is certified according to EN/CEI 61646 and EN/CEI 61730-2 for the production of photovoltaic modules and the manufacturing of integrated roofing systems.
