United Solar Partners With NJR On Residential Solar Pilot Program

0

United Solar, a manufacturer of building-integrated and rooftop photovoltaics under its UNI-SOLAR brand and a wholly owned subsidiary of Energy Conversion Devices, has signed an agreement with NJR Home Services (NJRHS), an unregulated subsidiary of New Jersey Resources, to provide two of its solar module product lines for a residential pilot program in New Jersey.

Under this program, for the first time, homeowners can utilize solar products on their roofs that are fully integrated into the existing asphalt shingle patterns for optimal aesthetic blending, United Solar says. This pilot program marks the national launch of UNI-SOLAR's new PowerShingle, which will be installed on family homes, as well as CertainTeed Corp.'s product EnerGen, which uses UNI-SOLAR modules.

NJRHS will install UNI-SOLAR's integrated PV modules on approximately 30 residential homes as part of its solar lease program and lease the solar panels to homeowners for $8.66/kW installed. The average size system for the pilot program is expected to be 3 kW, with a lease-payment price of $26 per month over a 20-year period.
