Westinghouse Solar Inc. and Zep Solar Inc. say they have reached a final and comprehensive settlement of their multi-year legal disputes.
The settlement is expected to result in the dismissal of all federal court actions and the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) case. The companies have opted to keep confidential all specific terms of the global settlement.
In October 2011, Westinghouse filed a complaint with the ITC accusing Zep Solar and Canadian Solar of infringing two Westinghouse Solar patents. Two months later, Zep Solar sued Westinghouse, Light Way Solar and three other parties for alleged infringement of a Zep Solar patent.
The new settlement extends to all customers, suppliers, and licensees of both Westinghouse Solar and Zep Solar that were named in one or more of the proceedings, the companies add.
