Washington, D.C.-based energy company WGL plans to invest $200 million in fiscal year 2016 in solar and other distributed generation systems, representing a 50% increase in renewable energy capacity.
The company currently has a distributed generation portfolio of 150 MW installed or under construction across the U.S., most of which is photovoltaic solar. WGL solar projects in service are expected to generate 147 GWh of electricity this year.
To date, WGL has invested over $500 million in distributed generation systems in 16 states and the District of Columbia.
