The city council in Ocean City, N.J., has awarded WorldWater & Solar Technologies Corp. a contract to build a $4 million solar system spread across several municipal properties.
The Ocean City Municipal Solar Energy Power Project will include roof mounts on Ocean City's Cultural Arts and Community Center, the Public Works Complex building, the Vehicle Maintenance Center, and the Sports and Civic Center. The total system is designed to produce approximately 550,000 kWh annually.
The contract covers 15 years and gives WorldWater & Solar Technologies $1.6 million in rebates from the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, along with solar renewable energy credits and federal tax credits on top of the ongoing electric billings to be paid by Ocean City. The project is expected to be finished later this year.
