Yingli Green Energy Holding Co. Ltd. has signed a contract to supply 96 MW of PV modules to the Jasper PV solar plant in South Africa. A consortium formed by Spain-based Iberdrola Ingenieria y Construccion and South Africa's Group Five has been selected by Jasper Power Co. to build the facility. Yingli Green Energy is the exclusive PV module supplier for the project.
According to Yingli Green Energy, Jasper PV will incorporate more than 325,000 of its YL295P-35b multi-crystalline modules on a site of approximately 444 acres. The plant is one of three solar projects the South Africa Department of Energy awarded in May 2012 to a development consortium led by SolarReserve under the auspices of the government's Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Program.
