Energy provider Dominion has begun commercial operations at its Somers Solar Center in Somers, Conn.
The center was built by Prime Solutions Inc., a Connecticut contractor, and comprises 23,150 Kyocera solar panels that generate roughly 5 MW of renewable energy, according to Dominion.
The center is one of three solar projects that will be placed in service by Dominion in 2013, says the company. The others are near Indianapolis and Augusta, Ga.
Dominion says it will sell the output of the solar center to Connecticut Light & Power under a fixed power purchase agreement.
